![]() Does the training program include an individual plan for me? The training plan you get will be oriented toward beginner athletes completing a sprint distance event. The program is not individualized, but it is targeted and designed for athletes like you by the coaches at Camelback Coaching. How long is a sprint triathlon? Sprint distances vary, but the Marquee sprint is a 750 meter swim, a 12.4 mile bike, and a 5K run. What if I don’t have a bike? Triple Sports has a number of great bike packages that can get you started with a bike, helmet, and basic triathlon gear for as little as $1100. You can also borrow a bike from a friend. Some people rent bikes, however Triple Sports does not offer bike rentals. What if I’ve never done a triathlon? Great! This program is a terrific way to learn about and prepare for your first triathlon. We will be there to guide you through your training and look forward to high-fiving at the finish line! I’ve done a couple of triathlons, is this training program for me? Definitely! We are focused on beginner triathletes, but that includes those of us who’ve done a handful of races but are still learning the ropes or looking for professional guidance. How “fit” do I need to be to join the program? This program is designed for beginners. However, we will be taking you to a sprint distance triathlon in just eight weeks. We recommend you have the ability to run/walk at least one mile, bike for 15 minutes and swim 100 meters. Also, consider any personal health issues and consult your healthcare provider if you are uncertain. Why should I join? This program is designed to provide you with the guidance, knowledge, and fitness you need to finish a sprint race. It’s also designed to give you a group of people to connect with while you train and race. We want you to have fun and be successful! What types of workouts are included? Program participants will be invited to six coached workouts with Camelback Coaching – two swims, two bike rides, and two runs. The exact time and location for these workouts will be determined soon. What types of lectures are included? Program participants will be invited to attend two lectures at Triple Sports. There will be a Tri 101 gear clinic that will explain all the gear that you need (and don’t need) to complete the race as well as a Tri 101 event clinic that will explain the ins and outs of triathlon racing – everything from how to set up your transition to how to seed yourself in the swim. How often will there be a workout or lecture? Group events (workouts or lectures) will be held once each week. The first event will be a Tri 101 lecture at Triple Sports the week of Feb. 18th – the exact date and time are TBD. Is attendance mandatory for workouts, lectures or the race? No. However, attendance and participation will help maximize your experience and likelihood of success. Does the training program fee include my race entry? No. You will need to register and pay for your Marquee race entry separately. You can register at www.redrockco.com. When is the Marquee Triathlon? How can I find out more about the race? The Marquee Triathlon is on Sunday, April 14th. The race is put on by Lifetime Events, and you can learn more about the course and the event at www.redrockco.com What if I want to do a longer distance? Right now, our training program is designed for the sprint distance. We may offer programs for longer distances in the future, though, so stay tuned! Or you can talk to the good people at Camelback Coaching who have helped hundreds of athletes complete all distances from sprint to Ironman. What if I want to do a different race? You can do any race you want! The program is an eight-week program to prepare for a sprint distance event. You can certainly train with us and do a different race.
